Sexting

It’s not a crime!

The term sexting comes from the English words sex (sex) and texting (sending electronic messages) and is a neologism used to indicate the sending of sexually explicit messages, texts, videos and/or images. Sexting, when practiced consensually and between adults, is not a crime! In fact, it is often used as a way to discover more about one’s sexuality and get to know the other person better.

The problem arises when this intimate content is misused by the other person, for example to blackmail the victim. In fact, cases of sextortion or revenge porn often arise after sexting. What to do in these cases? What we always recommend is to practice it intelligently (and therefore protect yourself).

How can it be done? For example, by not sharing your face or recognizable parts (such as a scar or tattoo). We should also pay attention to the environment, keeping it as neutral as possible, so as not to expose ourselves too much and avoid the risk that a common and widespread practice might put us in needless danger.

And above all, it is always good to remember that if we receive an image from someone, that image NEVER becomes ours and we cannot freely dispose of it, but it remains the person represented!
